New Democratic MPP Vanthof: PC government only kept 37% of promises

John Vanthof was on his feet in the Ontario Legislature today, criticizing the Ford government during the final Question Period before the June 2nd election.

The NDP member for Timiskaming-Cochrane says an independent watchdog indicates that the Conservatives only kept 37 percent of their promises from the 2018 campaign. He lists issues like a reduced cost of electricity; long term care improvements; and affordable housing.

“The PCs might have campaigned on these promises four years ago, but Ontarians haven’t seen the results,” Vanthof said. “They didn’t get a government that made life more affordable. They talk about it, but they didn’t do it, especially when people’s hydro bills and housing costs skyrocketed.”

“And they didn’t get a government that kept their promises, because the PCs only kept 37% of them. Almost two out of the three things they said didn’t happen. Ontarians need a government that will fix what’s broken.”

Several Ford ministers countered that the New Democrats consistently vote against any ideas from their government.

The next government – be it PC, NDP or Liberal – will be elected on June 2nd.
