Outbreak at long-term care home

A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at the Golden Manor Home for the Aged in Timmins.

The Porcupine Health Unit says it’s working closely with the long-term care home to ensure measures are in place to protect residents and staff.

By the health unit’s count, there have been 6,730 cases in its territory, with 261 currently active and 21 people in hospital.  However, it admits that the case number and the number currently active could be low estimates, due to less stringent testing.
