Green Party to have a candidate in Mushkegowuk-James Bay Riding in election

With the writ expected to fall at any time for a provincial election, political parties including the Green Party continue to make sure there are candidates in place in the various ridings. Press Secretary Darren Elias says their goal is to have all ridings covered including Mushkegowuk James Bay.

“Our goal is to find a local candidate preferably as soon as possible,” he said. “We encourage everyone to apply whether its on behalf of yourself or your putting in for a great candidate we definitely encourage people to continue the application process.”

Elias says the party tries to avoid parachuting or bringing a candidate in from outside the riding.

“Ya we always prefer local voices,” he said. “The big part of us recruiting local candidates is to make sure the communities they are from are properly represented and that includes representing the people from the community.”

The three major political parties have candidates officially in the election that is set for June.
