The North East O-P-P are reminding off-road vehicles operators to check with their respective municipalities to ensure the new federal legislation has been amended by the municipality they reside in.
The new laws in the form of updates to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario came into effect on Canada Day.
It allowed for the use of A-T-Vs, O-R-Vs and U-T-Vs on roads in the town’s and city’s respective areas. It is up to each individual municipality to enact or amend by-laws for their local roads.
Allan Spacek the Mayor of Kapuskasing says that council will still have to rule on the by-laws however the municipality has always been A-T-V friendly.
