Relaxed COVID-19 guidelines come down to personal choice for schools of DSB1

When it comes to relaxed provincial COVID-19 measures, school boards don’t have a choice.

Lesleigh Dye, director of the English public board in our region says she’s confident the school community will continue to do what’s right for the individual.

“Our staff and our students still have the option of wearing a mask,” she notes, “and we would welcome them to do so. So it is a personal choice.”

Dye adds that hand hygiene will still be very important, and Hepa ventilation systems will remain in place.

“I’m confident that our staff will continue – and our students – what’s right for them,” the DSB1 director remarks.

She adds that board’s strategic plan includes a culture of caring.

“I might live in a home where I have someone who has a compromised health system. And so personally, I will continue to wear a mask.”

In addition, parents have the choice of moving their kids to hybrid, online learning,or to switch them out of it.  The deadline is end of day, Tuesday, March 22nd.
