Town of Hearst has new CAO

Hearst Town Council has found a new Chief Administrative Officer to replace Yves Morrissette.

Eric Picard is a native of Hearst who’s been an account manager at Caisse Alliance.

Mayor Roger Sigouin says Picard was selected from five applicants who were shortlisted from a pool of eleven.

He says it’s nice that people from outside of Hearst want to make their lives in the North.

“We had people from Ottawa,” he said. “We had people from Southern Ontario who used to live in Hearst and they want to come back.”

The mayor remarks that some former residents now living in Ottawa or Southern Ontario applied, wanting to come back

“Most of the time, I’m talking to other mayors and that’s what I’m saying,” he said. “I say ‘we got people who want to come back in our community. It’s too bad we don’t have jobs for every one of them, the jobs that they want.’”

Picard’s first day in his new office is Monday, March 21st.
