Moonbeam Co-op Grocery Store has important meeting for members next week

An important members meeting is set for next Tuesday, Mar. 8 for the Moonbeam Co-op Grocery Store to decide how to better serve their customers. President Lise Cloutier says members who have purchased something from the store in the past year will be allowed to vote.

“And to actively participate in the meeting, we need people to come out and hear our plan,” she said. “The active members will receive the right to vote, on these plans and yeah or nay they will be able to have their say whether they agree on it.”

The Co-op is one of three grocery stores between Kapuskasing and Smooth Rock Falls.

Cloutier  says the COVID-19 pandemic has taught the board of directors that more space is needed.

“It’s a small building, the alley ways are quite small,” she said. “We’ve had to eliminate the numbers of shoppers at the same time so those are all hurdles we are hoping overcome with a new store.”

She adds the Co-op would like to be able to offer more online sales, greater and a greater variety of products especially from the region.

The meeting is set for 7 pm at the Raymond-Bouchard Community Centre.
