Common Sense Firearms Licensing Act

Effective immediately Bill C-42 will remove unnecessary bureaucratic red-tape for gun owners in Canada and make it a little more difficult to get a firearms license.

According to Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources Greg Rickford, the Act now improves the screening process. He says it also eliminates some loopholes in former legislation that allowed those with criminal backgrounds in domestic violence to attain licensing.

Now, Chief Firearms Officers will be subject to more regulations and it allows gun owners to have acquisition, possession and transportation combined into one license.

The bill also introduces mandatory safety courses for first time users who may register through the Firearms Education Services of Ontario.
