Fire at Le Kaprice Restaurant deemed ‘not suspicious’

Investigators have deemed that fire that burned down Le Kaprice restaurant on Lang Avenue in Kapuskasing is “non-suspicious”.

The alarm was turned in shortly after eleven o’clock Sunday night.  The investigation was a joint effort of the OPP, the Kapuskasing Fire Department and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office.

Fire Department Fire Chief Pat Kennedy says the exact cause of the fire is unknown but it did start in the mechanical room. He adds that the challenges of putting out fire was an issue in locating the cause.

A four unit apartment complex located next to the restaurant sustained smoke, water, as well as heat damage to the siding and few cracked windows.
