Kapuskasing Rotary Club’s Bay Dip Challenge is back next month

One of the highly anticipated fundraising events in the Model Town returns late next month. The Kapuskasing Rotary Club’s Bay Dip Challenge is set for Saturday, February 26 at the River Bay location. Chairman Don McInnis says due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Rotary Club has opted for a two plan approach depending on the situation.

“We’re gonna have plan A where we will have people on the ice and we will be working with the Porcupine Health Unit,” he said. “If things remain locked down then we will go to plan B where we can have an alternate way that people can fulfil their pledges.”

McInnis says in two years the challenge has raised close to $60,000.

“So it’s amazing the support in town, and like I said so many small charities have benefited from this event,” he said. “It’s unbelievable.”

McInnis says he hopeful the event will equal last year’s participation total of 30 dippers. If you would like to sign up and take the plunge, you are asked to visit the Kapuskasing Rotary Bay Dip page on Facebook and click on the link.
