Students enrolled at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine usually end up practicing somewhere in the north according to the figures. The school says that over the past 10 years 89% of its students have set up shop in the north. Of students who studied at other medical schools only about 5% have moved north to practice. According to the doctor who did the study, Patrick Timothy, he says it looks like creating the Northern Ontario School of Medicine was a good move.
