Hospital Foundation officials thrilled with first online 50-50 draw in Kapuskasing

The Chairman of the Sensenbrenner Hospital Foundation is ecstatic with the results of the first online 50-50 draw. Gilbert Peters says $14,000 was beyond their expectations especially with how some of the other communities in the region had done with their draws.

“Because we got to remember right now that its not just $14,000 right now, the total is going to be close to 29 thousand dollars because half goes to the hospital and half goes to the winner,” he said. “And we are really pleased with that because it’s a bigger success than we could have ever imagined.”

Karen Rossi, from Bolton, originally from Kapuskasing was the first winner of the draw and pockets just over $14,000. She says with three of her children in university the money will help. She adds that’s she’s happy to help support healthcare in the region.

It will be a couple of weeks before the second online 50-50 draw for the Sensenbrenner Hospital Foundation is open for ticket sales. Peters say the gap between the first draw and the second gives everyone a short break. You can buy tickets for the foundation’s second online 50-50 draw on January 17th.

He adds that the online draws are great for organizations like the foundation because there is less risk than a gala or a banquet.

“You spent a whole pile of money and you get no results of any kind except for negative results,” he said. “So if you do it like this people can do it at home at their own leisure and they feel like they’re helping their hospital when they purchase a ticket and they do.”
