Some of us haven’t taken our holiday trip yet. So before we go, OPP Constable Michelle Simard reminds us to take steps to protect our homes while we’re away.
Leave a light or two on – inside and out – so that it looks like someone might be home. And don’t announce on social media that you’re going.
“If you want to post pictures when you comeback, that’s great,” says the constable. “But before you go, don’t put it on Facebook that you’re leaving the house. It just becomes an easy target.”
“Make sure you lock your doors,” Simard continues. “Make sure that somebody shovels your driveway or even your pathway to get in. That’s important, to make it look lived in.”
