A coordinator with 101 Experiences says they are looking develop more unique tourism activities for the Hearst, Kapuskasing and Cochrane area. Abby Cook says 101 Experiences is growing in the Timmins and Temiskaming Shores with as many as 25 winter tourism opportunities. She adds the experiences can range from snowmobiling and ice fishing to something very unique that the region isn’t quite known for.

“That’s taking them out for a snowshoe or taking them out to do some cooking over the fire in the winter or also do things in doors that can be done year round,” she said. “That’s what we are looking to do, we’re looking to bring people down here during the winter.”

If you have any idea for a one-of-a-kind tourism experience you would like share, contact 101 experiences through its website.

“And we will teach you how to do it,” she said. “The program is about five weeks long. It’s an hour and a half a week Once you finish that five week program you are off to the races you are in charge of your schedule, you’re in charge of your pricing and when you do your experience. You are your own micro entrepreneur.”
