The Town of Kapuskasing wants to recognize others who have made a difference. A community awards program is expected to get approved by Town Council next week. Councillor Guylaine SchererĀ says you will be able to nominate someone for several different awards ranging from a certificate, to a key to the town or having something named.
āWe wanted to be as inclusive as possible as well, thatās where the discussion and reflections all started from,” she said. “Weāre really happy with the recommendation and the program that we suggested to town council at least meeting.ā
There hasnāt been a community awards program in place for several years.Ā Scherer hopes to kick it off in the new year.
āStart thinking about the people that should be receiving that kind of recognition, and hopefully that program will bring something new to town,” she said. “We will be more proud of where we are from and where we live.ā
Nominations will be submitted to a committee for review and selection.
