Notre Dame Hospital in Hearst could expand by 2025

Notre Dame Hospital in Hearst is looking at growing in the future. An expansion and modernization project could increase its size by 2025. It includes a 5,400 square-foot addition to the west side of the hospital, a new Claude Giroux Physiotherapy centre, visiting specialty clinic and respiratory therapy centre.  Hospital Foundation board member Tammy Coulombe (Coo-loam) says some of the funding is already in place.

“The total cost is expected to be at $3.3 million,” she said. “We have raised 1.8 so far and we are hoping to fundraise for the last $1.5 million left.”

Coulombe says these changes are important.

“The hospital was built in 1970 as you know the Ministry the rules and regulations have all changed,” she said. “So it’s going to be much more easier with more space to improve the services to have better equipment, high tech equipment also.”

The upcoming Moose FM Community Cares Radiothon on Friday, Dec. 10th will help raise money for the Hearst Hospital expansion project as well as a second operating room for Sensenbrenner Hospital in Kapuskasing.
