The community of Smooth Rock Falls is getting into the holiday spirit with a parade a Christmas tree lighting ceremony next Saturday Dec. 11. The parade starts at 6 pm followed by the tree lighting ceremony at 7 pm. Mayor Sue Perras says the parade was a bit hit in the past that the town wanted to add on more activities.
“It’s the first time in ages that we are actually having a Christmas tree,” she said. “It’s quite exciting for the community to be able to see this. It will be lit by Santa Claus of course and the tree by students at both schools.”
Perras says the last parade they had was a huge success.
“So well attended by communities, leaders and different organizations,” she said. “And we are hoping that this year we have the same involvement by all the different organizations.”
