Final preparations underway for Rotary Club’s Winter Wonderland Parade on Saturday

Final preparations are underway for the Kapuskasing Rotary Club’s Winter Wonderland Parade set for Saturday at 1 pm. Co-organizer Jennifer Coghill is thrilled with the response from the community with 26 participants to date and more to come.

“The fact that we actually have more participants in this parade than North Bay and with Toronto being cancelled, our little town has a bigger parade than Toronto does this year,” she said. “It’s huge.”

She adds that on parade day youth will be pre-walking the route handing out plastic bags to the children.

“We have a lot of people that want to hand out goodies and candies that are sealed to those watching the parade,” she said. “So we wanted to make sure there was no litter and that nothing was left on the ground.”

Participants are asked to gather at Cite des Jeunes school parking lot after 12 o’clock. The parade will take a similar route to Kap 100 Rendevous in September with the only change of the route stopping at North Centennial Manor instead of back at Riverside Park. The Winter Wonderland Parade is part of a big day of activities in the community Saturday that also includes the Christmas Lights ceremony at Riverside Park later that evening at 6:30.
