Town of Kap to finish off modernization of sewage treatment plant and lift stations

The modernization of the town of Kap’s sewage treatment plant and lift stations are nearly complete. Funding from the province’s modernization fund is being used to finish off the project. Manager of Public Works Eric Cote says in the past the management of the lift stations was done all manually.

“The multi-smart is a controller that will allow the employees to run the stations through a digital system basically on their cell phones or through the computers at the sewage plant, allowing them more time to respond quicker information gathering,” he said.

Cote adds this has been a project the town has been working on for the past few years modernizing one station with the remote system each year.

He says the new equipment will help the town now and in the future.

“Now financially it will save us some money by the ways of man hours,” he said. “If the guys don’t have to go out and physically work on a station they’re doing something else therefore saving us time and money.”
