Mylene Nadeau has major role in OWN Christmas movie ‘A Christmas Stray’

A Kapuskasing resident has a major role in a holiday movie set to air next month on OWN. That’s the network owned by Oprah Winfrey. Eleven year-old Mylene Nadeau stars in a Christmas Stray, that was filmed in the Ottawa area. It will air on Tuesday, December 14. Nadeau says in the beginning acting was just supposed to be a fun activity.

“Now it’s got a bit more serious, now that I have gotten my movie that I have done,” she said. “I thought it was going to be a little show but no.”

Her mom Angele Nadeau says she got to see first-hand her 11 year old daughter’s great work in the movie by hiding on set so Mylene could see her.

“So when she was actually doing the work, the camera stopped or the dog was not behaving, they had to stay cut take it from the top,” she said. “Mylene was such on the ball that part made me so proud.”

Angele says many of the auditions including the one for ‘A Christmas Stray’ were done virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The movie centres on a love story involving a veterinary and a stray dog.

Mylene Nadeau says working with the cast was a lot of fun including actor Andra Fuller.

“And he would clap his hands and tell the people to come and give him the hot chocolate with marshmallows and stuff and make it all fancy,” she said. My mom didn’t quite enjoy that because she doesn’t want me to be like very spoiled.”
