Officials pleased with response to vacant jobs at Kapuskasing Mill

Progress is being made to fill some of the 25 vacant positions at the GreenFirst Forest Products mill in Kapuskasing. That’s the word  from mill manager Pascal Champoux who was thrilled with the response from the recent job fair that took place in the region. He says they received 20-30 resumes from the tour and several phone calls from others that might be interested in work.

“Those who did not have resumes but we have been following up with them,” he said. “We also felt the impact after the tour, and we’ve seen a big increase in the number of applications and referrals coming in lately.”

He adds that the next step is to keep the momentum going with a mailing campaign using some of their product.

“We will be sending a sample of the enviro-smart sandwich bags by mail to the people in the surrounding communities,” he said. “We have been having some difficulty with the printing but this is being done now and we should be able to distribute the bag shortly to the people.”
