Tourism bolstered with NOHFC funding to complete marketing campaign

Tourism is our region is getting a shot in the arm from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund. Phase three of a marketing plan that’s to be completed by next spring received $64,500 to cover three quarters of the costs. Adventure North includes Dubreuilville, Hearst, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls and Cochrane. Hearst Economic Development Director Stephane Lapointe says the marketing plan will promote off-road motorsports.

“Snowmobiles, quad bikes, trails, to promote our excellent service that we can offer in the region,” he said. “We want to promote it to the Quebec market, US Market, Ontario market, name it.”

Facebook, You Tube, and other social media platforms will be used for the marketing campaign. Lapointe says the communities are working together.

“If we don’t stick together and enjoy our efforts together and goals and visions, I think we will stay divided and we will lose on opportunities to benefit from the returns of tourism and economic development initiatives,” he said.
