As more festivals and events make their return to the region, organizers of Smooth Truck Fest are eying a comeback next summer. Committee member Stephanie Rivard says the group can feel a lot of buzz in Smooth Rock Falls as they begin the planning process.
“Some people were rather upset that we had to cancel for a couple of years,” she said. “But we just did what we felt was best for our current situation, so now that we are planning and people are aware that we are planning, they are more excited now.”
Rivard says one of the reasons for Smooth Truck Fest’s longevity is that there just a few truck pulls in the region.
“Truck fest started in 2006 and we are going to be celebrating our 15th anniversary in 2022,” she said. “The reason we started truck fest to begin with is after the mill closure so that ended up bringing some spirt to the community and it then it grew from there.”
