Rayonier Foundation helps Hospital Foundation reach $150,000 target for new mammography machine

A new mammography machine will officially be on its way to Sensenbrenner Hospital. A $16,000 donation by the Kapuskasing lumber and paper mill employees helped the Hospital Foundation hit its $150,000 target. Mill General Manager Darren Ethier says the Rayonier foundation was set up a few years ago to give back to those organizations in need.

“To union leaders, employees, and other community leaders to be able to identity where the needs within in the community, so that how the foundation is diversifying the local donations in the community,” he said.

Hospital foundation chairman Gilbert Peters the way the community got behind this project was heartwarming.

“It’s so appreciative because it’s going to help everybody,” he said. “Our machines don’t discriminate who gonna be treated. Somebody comes to the hospital, it doesn’t matter who it is? What religion? What nationality? They will all be treated with the utmost care.”

Moose FM held a radiothon last December and a large portion of the $150,000 total was raise by pledges and other business donations.
