Nine year old Kapuskasing boy shadows town council

A nine year old Kapuskasing boy got a chance of a lifetime on Monday night. Lyam Goulet shadowed Mayor Dave Plourde and council during their meeting. Kinne Goulet says her son Lyam wants to be the Mayor of the town when he grows up and this was a perfect opportunity to check out his profession.

“He just said that it’s in his heart, it’s in him,” he said. “There’s not really a specific reason except for doing good things for the town of Kapuskasing. I mean knowing Lyam, he has a big heart. This could be his dream come true eventually as he grows older.”

The experience included sitting beside the Mayor and having his proposal for a bike park discussed by councilors.  Kin Goulet says her son was surprised at the turn of events.

“He thought it was only for the supper, but the mayor brought it to the agenda,” she said. “So Lyam was very surprised and very happy that he could bring a bike park for his friends for everyone to enjoy, hopefully in the next year or so.”

Goulet says her son had a terrific experience and even shared it with his friends during a classroom presentation at his school.
