Special Olympics bocce needing volunteers this fall

If you are looking for a way to give back, then the Special Olympics bocce program is looking for help. Spokesperson Kelly Walton says a few volunteers are needed to help the players with the rules of the game.

“If we get some more volunteers we can start practicing in the fall,” Walton said. “And we can definitely get some time in but the actual competition and everything starts in the spring.”

Bocce is an Italian game that looks like lawn bowling. Participants roll a bocce ball closest to the target ball. The sport allows those with special needs the opportunity to get out, exercise and gain self-confidence. If you would like to volunteer, contact Kelly Walton at [email protected].
