There are now five candidates vying for the seat in the Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing in next month’s federal election. Stephen Zimmermann a high school teacher from Laird Township will represent the Green Party. Zimmerman says he is excited to represent the party on the ballot. He adds that from what he has been hearing, it’s time for a change and the pandemic has made people think about what government can and should do.
Former Elliot Lake city councillor and chamber of commerce president Clarence Baarda is running for the Christian Heritage Party. In a statement on the party’s website, Baarda says voters can elect the only party that follows the values our nation’s founders instituted.
The close of nominations for candidates is Monday, and Elections Canada will release the full list one week from today.
