Walk of Sorrow arrives in Kapuskasing today

There will be some special visitors in Kapuskasing tonight.

The Walk of Sorrow headed by Patricia Ballantyne will arrive around 6 pm. The Indian Friendship Centre will greet Ballantyne and her group with drumming and food. The Walk of Sorrow arrived in our region yesterday with well wishes from Constance Lake First Nation. Ballantyne began in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on June 5th and is expected to be in Ottawa next month.

The walk is aimed at healing First Nations following the discovery of unmarked graves of residential schools in Canada. Ballantyne was a residential school survivor in Saskatchewan.
