Hospital foundation getting closer to fundraising target

The Sensenbrenner Hospital Foundation in Kapuskasing is slowly creeping towards its financial goal of a new mammography machine. Coordinator Mireille Dubosq says it’s 21 thousand dollars short of the total of $150,000. She adds that there are a number of activities planned to continue fundraising efforts.

“Charity golf tournament happening August 12th and we’ve sold out 20 teams,” she said. “We are looking forward to that and it’s our first year. We had to plan with the pandemic restrictions in mind, so it’s going to be a fun tournament so should be a good day.”

Dubosq says that despite donations slowing considerably in the past month, the support of local businesses continues to be incredible.

“They are doing what they can in the way that they can,” she said. “Whether it’s donating an item for our golf tournament, donating a bit of cash, or coming up with a few projects like pop-up events to contribute money to the mammography project.”

The foundation continues to finalize the application for the online 50/50 draw and hopes to have that fundraiser in place by early fall.
