Vaccination campaign not taking a holiday

The Porcupine Health Unit region is sitting at 74.6% of eligible people having at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.  That’s good, according to program manager Kendra Brunet.

The campaign to get everyone vaccinated, however, continues through the Canada Day holiday.

Keep an eye peeled for a pop-up clinic in a park or parking lot in your community. Brunet says they’re easy to spot.

“We’re set up with EMS so we have fluorescent orange tents and we should be pretty visible,” she remarks. “But we’re really just trying to get more dose 1s and dose 2s out and trying to reach people that haven’t made it to arenas yet is our strategy with all our pop-ups”

They’re for anyone 12 and over, first vaccination or second, even if you’re scheduled for later in the summer.

“There’s some confusion around that with people that were given an appointment card early on in our vaccination program,” Brunet points out.  “So we’re trying to get the word out that dose 2s, anybody’s eligible now, as long as they’re 28 days past their first dose.”
