The challenge is out there for Kapuskasing residents to get COVID-19 vaccines

The challenge is out there, to see how many of the 26-hundred doses of COVID-19 can go into arms in Kapuskasing over an eight-day period.

Kapuskasing and Area Family Health Team executive director Chris Jones says there are plenty of available appointments for Tuesday and Wednesday between 4:00pm and 8:00pm, and all day Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

“When the Porcupine Health Unit put out their numbers, we’re only at 54% and the region average is 71,” Jones mentions. “So we’re trying to get more people to get their first dose and their second dose of Covid vaccine.”

The family health team has joined forces with Le Centre de Santé, Sensenbrenner Hospital and the town of Kap for the clinics.

“We do all appointment-only so that the experience is very organized and you come in and ten minutes later you’re vaccinated and 15 minutes later you’re walking out the door,” observes Jones.
