Trash swap and spring clean-Up collection both to be held next month

Kap Town council has given you a reason to get into the spring cleaning mode by approving both Trash Swap Week and Spring Collection pick up next month. During Trash Swap on the week of May 10th, you will be able to leave your unwanted items at curbside for others to go through. The following week, town employees will collect those left over items. Mayor Dave Plourde says no better time to have this activity then now.

“We have a lot of people who are locked up and in their homes and what better thing is to clean up their garages or their homes,” he said. “I think it is good.”

Manager of Public Words Eric Cote says there was some concern about holding either of the events.

“With the COVID-19 lockdown do we want to encourage people to have potentially contact with the virus if that were the case,” he said. “That was left for council to decide either proceed with both or just strictly the pick-up.”

Plourde noted that it was a concern at the beginning of the pandemic and it’s no longer an issue.
