There’s been an explosion of COVID-19 cases in our region.  The Porcupine Health Unit is reporting 12 new ones, bringing the running total to 404.

Eight of them are in Timmins. Two are blamed on community exposure; three on contact with another case; and three under investigation. The other four are somewhere between Smooth Rock Falls and Matheson. Two are from contact, the other two under investigation.

The health unit doesn’t specify whether this includes a case at St. Francis Elementary School in Timmins.  The Northeastern Catholic District School Board won’t specify whether it’s in a student or staff member.

Schools are closed all next week for the delayed spring break.
