Municipal taxes on the rise in Kapuskasing

You’ll be paying more municipal taxes this year.

Kapuskasing Town Council passed a one per cent tax increase last night. It was the first municipal tax increase in nearly six years. Sewer rates are also on the rise by as much as four dollars a month depending on your assessment.

There will also be a slight rise of just over a dollar a month on municipal water rates depending on consumption. Council also announced $13 million worth of capital projects ranging from completing the connecting link on Highway 11 to major sidewalk repair on McPherson Avenue and the repair of the side road behind Sensenbrenner Hospital.
