A long time municipal politician in our region has stepped aside.
Smooth Rock Falls Mayor Michel Arseneault resigned Friday, Feb. 5 and has been replaced by councillor Sue Perras who was appointed by council at a special meeting earlier this week.
No reason for Arseneault’s decision was given in a letter to the community that was on the town’s website. Arseneault said that the decision wasn’t an easy one but was grateful for the opportunity that was passed onto him.
He adds that he’s leaving at a time when things are progressing well and he’s proud of the community’s achievements thus far. Sue Perras’ vacant town council seat will be discussed during the next meet on March 1st.
