Several area communities including Kapuskasing included in Ontario Ice Fishing Challenge

Area anglers from Kapuskasing, Moonbeam and Hearst are invited to take part in the Angler’s Atlas Ontario Ice Fishing Challenge that begins Family Day Weekend and concludes March 7. Kap 100 committee chairman Julien Boucher says this event is great to include in the anniversary celebrations this year.

“It fits really well in the type of activity that we want to do and we saw that there are other towns that are close to us that participating as well like Moonbeam,” Boucher said. “So it’s a good way for Kap to stand out and even challenge other communities like Moonbeam.”

Boucher says everyone who chooses Kapuskasing as their town will represent the community no matter where they fish.

“Drisdale Variety, Raxfin, north 49, Gaston’s Sports and Marine, and the Kap 100 committee is going to provide some of its promotional material, all of the products that are for sale for the 100,” he said.

There is a small registration fee but that goes towards $8,000 in prizes. To learn more and to take part, visit the Anglers Atlas website and download the ‘Mycatch’ App.
