Large animal farmers looking for help from Kap Town Council

A donation request that was previously denied by Kapuskasing Town Council is being asked to be reconsidered by a group of area farmers.

Chairperson of the Kapuskasing Veterinary Services Committee Jo-Ann Chevalier says the $1,000 allows the farmers to be part of a vet assistance program that helps reduces on-call fees and other services when the animals are in need.

She adds the volunteer committee has to shell out more money to cover this fee and feels council should help to support area animal farmers. Administrator Guylain Baril says not only does the donation go against their donation policy but also the municipal act, giving bonuses to only a specific group.
