Mayor reminds everyone to continue to shop local during lockdown; thrilled with air service partner

It’s unclear yet whether the provincial lockdown will end on February 10th but in the meantime, non-essential local businesses remain with curbside, take-out or delivery services. Kapuskasing Mayor Dave Plourde says through it all the shop local message must remain strong.

“Our businesses are going to need us no more than ever after this,” he said. “So to remember support your local economy make sure the restaurants and businesses are well utilized at and we will get out of this.”

One essential business is providing a shot in the arm to the Kapuskasing Economy. North Star Air Service has been adding more flights in and out of the Airport the past two years as it provides good and services to the James Bay Coast. Plourde says it’s been a successful partnership between the town and the air company.

“We are really fortunate to have North Star Air in our community,” he said. “And now they are an employer in our community and the flights that come in and out of community are to be commended and it’s something that’s awesome for us.”
