A Val Rita man will remain in police custody after a court appearance following an incident in Smooth Rock Falls last week. Ontario Provincial Police responded to a 911 call for a person in medical distress at the Smooth Rock Falls hospital emergency department.
Police say the person had been driving under the influence of drugs and a sobriety test. During the arrest the 33 year-old man had a physical altercation with police and two officers received minor injuries. The man is facing nine charges including two for assault, and driving under suspension.
