Mild weather making it challenging for snowmobile clubs to make trails

If you have been itching to go for a ride on your snowmobile you are in luck as many of the trails from Hearst to Cochrane have started to be available thanks to the hard work of the snowmobile clubs. Northern Corridor Du Nord CAO JP Ouellette says it hasn’t been easy with mother nature throwing many curveballs.

“So clubs have been I guess challenged this year with getting things going, but all things considered we’re probably not in bad shape this year given other prior years as well,” Ouellette said.

Ouellette credits the hard work of the clubs that’s made a difference.

“A lot of the trails have become available and in the last few days, we have even added some green,” he said. “So the green areas say they are completely available otherwise their yellow, then they are limited available. Then if they are red then the trails are unavailable.”

To keep track of the trails in our region, head over to the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs website to click on the interactive trail guide.
