The online 50-50 draws continue to gain more momentum in this region. The Centre De Loisirs in Kapuskasing is starting its own online draw in February with the first jackpot in March. General Manager Jimmy Cote says he’s been working on the application since October.
“For us we saw the 50-50 working well in cities like the Sault Ste. Marie or Timmins so as soon as we saw that it was something that the board and I decided to jump on,” he said. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for the Centre de Loisirs here to collect some funds.”
Cote says the money will be used to fix up the facility.
“We are a pretty old building if you think about it,” he said. “This was the old Academy that was a high school back in the early days of Kapuskasing so a lot of renovations need to be done. There are a lot of things are dating from the early 1970s if you look at the flooring, or the roof.”
