Twelve hour radiothon hits the airwaves tomorrow morning at 6 am

The Moose FM Community Cares Radiothon is tomorrow. The 12 hour event from 6 am to 6 pm benefits a new mammography machine at Sensenbrenner Hospital in Kapuskasing and an expanded physiotherapy department at Notre Dame Hospital in Hearst. Nancy Gauthier with the physiotherapy department says they welcome people to swing by Hospital on Friday and drop off a donation in person in a unique way.

“It will be drive through Covid style, so you guys can come on up drive by and come talk to us,” she said. Every donation counts, we will have like a few prizes to give away throughout the day and we’ll have announcements.”

Mammography technologist Melissa Marien with Sensenbrenner Hospital says the current older unit is starting to show some problems.

“Additional noises, the start-up is slower, the computer system is slower, and we are seeing more errors on the unit so one day it could potentially die completely,” she said. “And this would definitely mean travelling for our patients which we don’t like that word.”

To make a donation to the Kapuskasing project call 705-337-4097 and to the one in Hearst call 705-372-0072, All donations will be entered into draws to win various gift baskets including signed memorabilia from Philadelphia Flyers forward and Hearst native Claude Giroux.
