It appears there won’t be many changes to the Christmas masses offered in the churches under the Diocese of Hearst-Moosonee. Chancellor Jean Beausoleil says due to the COVID-19 health protocols the churches will be at 30 per cent capacity and not near as full as normal.
“Most churches will ask the parishioners to register to attend masses so we don’t go over the allowed number in each of the parishes,” he said.
Beausoleil says the Bishops have given them some guidance on proceeding with mass.
“That masses could begin earlier than we’re allowed to. We have to remember that many people are not going to come to mass because we have masses that are on the internet and of course on the radio.”
Church staff has been making sure the parishes are sanitized properly before the next service as part of the new protocols. Masks are worn with proper physical distancing.
