Hospital Foundations will be the beneficiary of the Moose FM Community Cares Radiothon this year. The annual radiothon is set for Friday, Dec. 11 from 6 am to 6 pm and you will be able to support either the Notre Dame Hospital Foundation in Hearst or the Sensenbrenner Hospital Foundation in Kapuskasing. Gilbert Peters of the Sensenbrenner foundation says the group wants to help the hospital purchase a new mammography machine.
“Our machine is 12 years old, life span of these machines is approximately 10 years,” he said. “We are having maintenance issues and it’s time to bring a new machine to our hospital here in Kapuskasing.”
Girard with the physiotherapy department in Hearst says money donated to its foundation will help expand the Claude Giroux Rehabilitation Centre.
“Having state of the art equipment, provide a cardiac rehabilitation area so when our patients come back from Sudbury post-op we can provide their rehabilitation for them,” she said. “And also provide a more private treatment rooms.”
