Firefighters in Kapuskasing are giving back in a special way next week.

The Fire Department’s Food Drive is set for next Wednesday at 6 pm Fire Chief Pat Kennedy says the department normally gets help from youth hockey teams to knock on door but that won’t be possible due to the pandemic.

He adds that the Porcupine Health Unit has approved the firefighters picking up donations as long as they wear personal protective equipment. You are being asked to put your food donations in a box or a bag at the end of the driveway on that night and the firefighters will come by and get it.

The Fire Department is looking at breaking a two-year old record by raising more than 6,500 pounds of food and 1,000 dollars in cash.
