Timmins has the dubious distinction of the one-hundredth case of COVID-19 in the region.
Late Friday afternoon, the Porcupine Health Unit announced that a person in Timmins has tested positive. They contracted the coronavirus through travel and coming into contact with another person who has it.
This is the first positive test result in the last eight that isn’t in Hearst.
PHU recorded its first case, also in Timmins, on March 19.
