New rest area built, two others fixed up along Highway 11

Finding a rest area to stop along highway 11 in our region just got a bit easier. The province announced that two existing rest areas will be expanded and a brand new one built as part of 14 Northern Ontario projects. The Ryland Rest Area west of Hearst will have all season bathrooms and expanded parking as part of work that will be completed by next year.

Expansion is also coming to the Klotz Lake Rest Area also west of Hearst so more commercial truckers may take a break. Meantime, a new rest area is being built at the junction of Highway 11 and 655 near Cochrane. That facility will be available year round and is scheduled to be completed by 2025.
