UPDATE, Saturday at 10:30am: The Porcupine Health Unit does not specify KDHS, but does say the individual is “from the area of Kapuskasing, Opasatika, Val Rita-Harty, Moonbeam, Fauquier-Strickland… (and) is of 19 years or younger.”
Kapuskasing District High School is reporting a case of COVID-19.
Principal Kevin McRae doesn’t specify whether it’s in a student or staff member. But in a letter to families, he says the “individual” is at home in self-isolation.
The principal adds that the Porcupine Health Unit is communicating with anyone considered to have been in close contact with the individual, using student and staff attendance records.
He advises the rest of the school community to continue attending, while self-monitoring for symptoms of the virus.
As of mid-evening on Friday, the health unit had said nothing publicly about the case at KDHS, which is the 86th in its region.
