OPP say crowd sizes are not a concern in region right now and want to see it kept that way

So far so good! That’s the word from officials from the Ontario Provincial Police’s North East Region regarding any problems with indoor or outdoor crowd sizes. Media Relations coordinator Carlo Berardi says everyone has been compliant and hopes we can keep it that way.

“But the time for education is over now so we will be enforcing the law if it is required,” he said. “So I just suggest that people continue on this track of compliance and hopefully we will get through this soon than later.”

Berardi says even though there haven’t been any problems now, that wasn’t the case in the spring.

“One was in the James Bay area and one was in the southern part of the region the north bay area,” he said. “But since that time people have been very compliant and observant of the restrictions.”

The new provincial law states that indoor private party gatherings can have 10 people, while the limit is 25 for outdoor events. Breaking the rules could see hosts and organizers fined as much as $10,000 and attendees receive a $750 ticket.
