Maison Arc En Ciel holding zoom video workshops on teen drug abuse

In light of the recent overdose death of a teen in Hearst, Maison Arc En Ciel, the teen and young adult rehabilitation facility in Opasatika, is holding a series of Zoom video workshops for parents and those are dealing teenagers next week. A French session takes place on Wednesday, while an English one follows on Thursday. Both begin at 7 pm. Executive Director Estelle Berube  says that substance abuse doesn’t judge as it can happen to anyone.

“I think it’s important that we sensitize our community about the risks involved with substance abuse and use,” she said.  “It’s needed and educating parents is very important because they are the front lines of our teens.”

Berube says there is lots of concern and sadness regarding the death of a Hearst teen last weekend. She adds that the workshops will benefit not just parents but those who are responsible for teenagers and young adults about drug abuse.

“Educating on the different substances and what their affects are,” she said. “We are also going to talk about the importance of communication, tips to parents and adults and to talk to your youth about it because it’s a very taboo topic.”

You must pre-register in order to attend and for further information contact Maison Arc En Ciel at 705-369-4582 or [email protected]
